Introduction
With streaming fragmented across multiple platforms, and services gaining
and losing rights to shows all the time, it is hard to keep track of what you
have watched - and more importantly what you liked. So, given also my worsening
memory, I wanted somewhere to record and lookup shows, particularly the more
obscure ones that I have enjoyed.
The notes for each show are not reviews, just something to remind me what it
was about and when it was made.

2022 historical sci-fi show that starts out on a steamship. Loved it. Shame
it only ran for one season but at least there was a kind of satisfying end.
2024 adaptation of the Chinese novel. Liked the first season, waiting for S2.
2024 Korean black comedy thriller. I found this quite hard to watch at times
as the violence can be horrific. But I just kept watching and hoping that the
"good guys" would get through the experience. Tough but compelling.
2018 French sci-fi in a world where ageing has been "cured" ... or has it?
2019 adaptation of the Margaret Atwood novel.
2020 Japanese series which marries the classic Alice in Wonderland with a
violent survival game. Crazy but I loved it. The first 2 seasons seem to
complete the story, but the third season adds to the myth quite nicely.
2020 Korean sci-fi time-travel drama. Here the "Alice" is a time-travel agency
that can send people back in time to meet dead loved ones and get "closure" in
some way. The plot centres around a mysterious woman and a man who comes to
think that she may be his mother?
2018 American period crime drama. An "alienist" is a psychiatrist in
the 19th century (nothing to do with space aliens). I enjoyed the
first season but the second felt like a different show and I lost
interest after a few episodes.
2018 futuristic adventure where people's consciousness is "backed up" in an
electronic implant called a "stack" which can be inserted into a new body
making the owner effectively immortal ... unless their stack is destroyed and
they experience "real death".
2021 animated series based on the League Of Legends game. Enjoyed both series,
even though I have never played the game.
2022 supernatural thriller. An archivist is hired to restore a project
of video tapes in mysterious circumstances alone in a strange house in
the middle of nowhere. It is creepy and interesting at the same time. I
loved this and was very sad when it was cancelled after one season.
2025 Swedish Nordic noir drama. Interesting missing person case.
2020 Dutch horror drama about a secret society. Better than most of
the similar shows in this genre. Only one season but well done.
2024 Korean drama about a family who have "lost" their superpowers due to
modern lifestyle issues. This sounds silly at first but it develops nicely
into a really good drama.
2024 live action version that is a big improvement on the dreadful movie
adaptation. Still not perfect but enjoyed series 1 and waiting for 2 and 3.
2020 Korean mystery. A team of investigators look into a series of murders
and find connections to a tragedy from the past. The characters in this are
very good - intriguing and complicated.
2015 crime comedy about an eccentric cop. Based on a Swedish book series.
Cancelled after one series. I don't remember much about it, but I watched it
all the way through so it must have been OK.
2021 psychological thriller. Quite intriguing story with some good twists. One of
the stars is Eve Huston (Bono's daughter) and she's really good.
2024 Korean thriller. Unusual murder mystery with several unexpected angles.
The thing bequeathed is a family owned burial ground which it seems is
exceptionally important to multiple characters.
2020 German techno-thriller. Interesting if chaotic two seasons about genetic
experiments.
2013 American crime thriller. Raymond Reddington is a crime lord who suddenly
turns himself in to the FBI and offers them access to his Blacklist of
mysterious criminals. The backstory here is gripping - who is Reddington
really?
2011 onward sci-fi dystopian anthologies and various spin-offs. A mixed
bag - some episodes are gripping and insightful, others are a bit more
predictable - but always worth watching.
2017 French-Belgian thriller set in a town by a forest with a suspiciously high
murder rate. I loved both seasons of this - the characters are great and the
story is gripping.
2012 British mystery drama. A group of women who worked at Bletchley Park in the
war find their (still secret) skills useful for solving post-war crimes. Two good
series plus a spin-off set in San Francisco for no apparent reason...
2023 Korean action thriller about a couple of boxers who get drawn into the
world of illegal money lending where "bloodhounds" are debt collectors. I
really enjoyed season 1 which had a genuine sense of continuing jeopardy.
Season 2 was OK but the story felt quite contrived to provide action rather
than the action being the core of the story as it was before.
2023 British sci-fi thriller. Intense eight part mini-series where 4 bodies are
found in the same place but decades apart. Enjoyed it.
2025 Korean romantic fantasy which I was surprised to find myself gripped by.
The characters and story are brilliant and it is as much a thriller as it
is a romance. There's also a lot of history of cooking involved which was
very interesting. Epic.
2016 Finnish Nordic noir crime thriller. Loved all 3 series and the spin-off
movie. Features a brilliant lead character who is an autistic savant as well
as a strong supporting cast.
2016 Belgian crime drama. A classic "detective moves back from the big city to
his hometown and finds trouble". Interesting characters and a good mystery.
2025 Swedish crime drama. Based on a real life case which was solved after 16 years
using forensic genetic genealogy.
2024 American action comedy drama. A medical student in LA discovers the hard
way that his family back in Taiwan are actually notorious gangsters. Great
fun. Lots of action, plenty of humour. The elder brother Charles is hilarious
as the killing machine who just loves cooking.
2019 British conspiracy thriller. What happens when deep-fakes and mass
surveillance combine to make misinformation proliferate into a post-truth
world?
2025 German sci-fi thriller. A family move into a vintage but hi-tech house
that is highly automated and has an AI robot helper called Cassandra. It
gets weird and creepy and scary quite quickly. Very interesting.
2021 Danish crime thriller. A complex and multi-decade series of crimes get
investigated by a reluctant pairing of detectives. For season 2 the detectives
are unexpectedly reunited for another grisly case.
2012 Canadian sci-fi. Four great series of sci-fi with time travel and
gadgets and complex story connections. Loved it.
2023 Danish supernatural thriller. Atmospheric if a little slow moving.
2025 American sci-fi spy thriller. I liked the way this was put
together with bits of information being revealed just in time.
Unfortunately it sets up for a second series that was never made
instead of resolving the main questions.
2021 American space western. Live action version of the anime. Quite over the
top as per most anime, but I liked this one a lot.
2016 British historical drama. I say "historical" but I lived through more than
half of the 1947-2005 time-span shown. Great casting.
2016 Japanese trilogy of 3D films split into 12 parts. Based on the manga where
9 cyborgs get superhuman powers. Crazy but nicely done.
2017 German sci-fi. I really enjoyed season 1 and most of season 2 but got
completely lost in season 3. At some point I will watch all 3 back to back and
try to follow the connections better.
2019 British sitcom about friends who are into an online role-playing game.
Liked series 1. There is a second series on Apple TV that I haven't seen.
2020 British thriller which is more of a "did he do it" than a whodunnit? Good
drama with the always excellent David Tennant as the "creepy" doctor.
2018 Finnish crime drama. Enjoyed season 1 but abandoned S2 after a few episodes.
2023 German crime series. A woman escapes from a long captivity with 2 children.
2017 British adaptation of the Evelyn Waugh novel. Funny and tragic at the same time.
2023 Korean drama where a con artist and a lawyer join forces to get
revenge on some bad people. There is a lot of backstory that comes
out gradually and the characters are really good.
2025 Scottish crime thriller. A bunch of misfits get to work in a
basement office on cold cases as we discover they all have some
outstanding abilities. Great. Looking forward to S2.
2012 British comedy drama starring Ricky Gervais as a care worker with special
needs. A tough watch at times but I think ultimately rewarding. There are many
moving scenes and some cringey ones... that's life.
2026 Norwegian adaptation of Jo Nesbo's detective Harry Hole (pronounced Hoo-ler). I
hope they make more of these as I love a flawed detective. There is also a nice mix
of predictability and twist so you can solve along and then be wrong :-)
2025 Vietnamese supernatural horror where a chef creates magical dishes
that can grant the "wishes" of the eater, but at often unexpected cost.
2020 British adaptation of the Bram Stoker novel. Done by the same team who did
the modern Sherlock. I enjoyed it the first time around; less so when I
re-watched it, so I guess a lot of the value is in the surprise deviations from
the well known story?
2021 Danish horror fantasy. A family Christmas in the woods runs off the
rails when a girl befriends a baby elf and the other elves get mad.
2017 British black comedy. Both seasons of this are absolutely brilliant. The
cast, the script, everything. Everything builds up and we get a satisfying
conclusion... eventually. Awesome.
2020 Danish supernatural mystery. Woman investigates the historical
disappearance of her sister + classmates and uncovers something unsettling.
2024 British psychological thriller. A puppeteer in NY tries to find his
missing son with the help of a large puppet called Eric.
2015 American sci-fi series. I watched this after reading (some of) the books and
mostly enjoyed it but some of the casting jarred against my conceptions... Holden is
too young, Naomi has the wrong hair, Bobby is too short and stocky. Miller though
was spot on and Julie and Avasarala and Prax. So pretty good. Ultimately though,
like the books, the series teases you with hints of advanced aliens whilst giving
you endless battles between factions of the human race.
2022 Korean drama about an autistic lawyer. It really is extraordinary. Loved it.
2017 Swedish comedy drama about 2 incompetent detectives who get one last chance to solve a case.
2022 Spanish supernatural horror. Two sisters battle a cult who are dancing with the devil.
2017 French crime drama. Nicely done thriller.
2017 French mystery thriller. Really good plot and characters.
2025 Spanish mystery. A mother and son use their gardening business as a cover
for contract killings.
2024 British action comedy. A spin-off from the Guy Ritchie film of the same name.
2020 Japanese 3D animation based on the manga. I'm not a fan of manga and I liked this.
2017 American paranormal action series. A town in Alaska is over-run by strange forces.
2025 Swedish crime drama. Another great Nordic series with a detective who has
a disturbing past.
2015 Australian supernatural drama where people return from the dead. Similar idea
to the French series The Returned but with a very different character and storyline.
2021 French language adaptation of the Harlan Coben novel.
2016 American fantasy comedy. For a show about dead people this is ironically
very funny. A clever story moves with purpose through several major phases and
comes to a moving conclusion. Nice to have a show that's so well constructed.
2014 American prequel to the Batman stories. I really liked the early series of
this where we got to see the young Bruce Wayne and all the fledgling villains
growing up. The later series got a bit overstuffed with too many characters all
battling at the same time.
2022 American superhero satire. This is a brutally sharp satire of the Justice
League and related heroes. Instead of playing for cheap laughs it shows us the
uncomfortable outcome of unconstrained heroes working "for the greater good".
2022 horror anthology. A bit of a mixed bag; all interesting, some enjoyable.
2024 Japanese / English animated series. The Gundam is a kind of armoured
battle suit piloted by humans. When the bad guys get hold of a super powerful
version it means... trouble.
2023 Korean horror action drama thriller. The first season is set in 1945
during occupation and the second season is set in the present day. Combines a
good story with great characters and some frightening monsters.
2013 American psychological thriller about Dr Hannibal 'The Cannibal' Lecter and
FBI investigator Will Graham. Hannibal works with the FBI investigating murders
while he's killing (and eating) people himself. Horrible but intriguing.
2015 American sci-fi horror drama about scientists investigating a disease
outbreak at a research centre in the arctic. I thought it had a good plot
and did the "science stuff" pretty well.
2021 Korean supernatural horror drama. I thought the first season was a fun
romp with kind of random monsters that didn't make a lot of sense, but the
second season clears up a lot of the confusion in quite a clever way that I
liked.
2019 American adaptation of the Marvel Comics characters Ana and Daimon Helstrom.
The heroes have psychic abilities that they use to battle demons. This is a
standalone story outside the MCU which I liked a lot.
2013 American political thriller. I initially enjoyed this remake of the
British series but it went on far too long - the point of the story is to see
Urquhart / Underwood's rise and fall but the Americans got greedy and just
strung out the middle bit... I stopped watching after season 3.
2024 Japanese drama about a family of ninjas living in modern Japan as a kind
of secret rescue team. It's fun how they try to live a modern life and honour
their past.
2004 American medical drama. I watched this in 2025 when I was ill and wanted
something that I could just binge without any effort... ended up going through
all 8 seasons in a couple of months.
2020 American superhero black comedy. This is brilliant and a big improvement on
the original comic which ends very differently. The script and acting is excellent.
It was originally renewed for a second season but then cancelled due to COVID
which was a tragedy (both COVID and the cancellation).
2011 Japanese tragi-comedy drama? Not sure how to describe it. This show feels
very melodramatic and almost ridiculous in places, particularly the first few
episodes. But it has a certain heart and I am glad I stuck with it. Somehow the
"silly" parts heighten the deeply emotional scenes and while it still feels
strange it did resonate strongly. In a way it is Mary Poppins but with real
tragedy embedded.
2022 Canadian sci-fi. Decent enough genetic experiments by mad scientist go
wrong in different ways kind of thing. The kids powers are sometimes fun.
2021 Spanish adaptation of the Harlan Coben novel.
2018 British supernatural thriller. It has shapeshifters and runaways.
2022 British drama where a vicar (David Tenant) accidentally gets into a pickle
but then just keeps digging himself in deeper. The inside man refers to a death
row inmate in the US who is a former criminologist who gets consulted on...
something.
2021 Korean crime show about a detective who is a compulsive gamer and
drinker... but also brilliant at solving tricky cases.
2020 Korean romantic comedy drama. I'm not usually into romcoms but this has a
lot of depth to it - the main male character has an autistic older brother who
plays a major part as well as the dark and tragic past of both leads.
2015 American supernatural crime drama. I loved the crazy idea and the often
wacky story lines in the first two seasons. Gave up early in season 3 as it
was feeling a bit stale by then.
2021 American superhero comic book adaptation. I really liked this - the
tormented characters and the intriguing storylines. Shame it was cancelled
after one season.
2024 British take on Greek mythology with Jeff Goldblum as Zeus. I mean, this
is just a brilliant and quite irreverent look at "The Gods" versus "The
Humans". I loved it... so no surprise when it was cancelled after one
season. Rewatched it a couple of times and it holds up well.
2025 Korean crime thriller. This is one of those "one bad choice leads to
another" spirals where what seems like a good idea at a desperate time throws up a
series of unintended consequences. I enjoyed the characters and their
intertwined stories.
2021 Icelandic mystery drama. A bit like The Returned or Glitch in that people
who have been missing presumed dead reappear looking the same as they did
decades previously. Except that this is more moody and spooky than those shows
- it doesn't over explain itself and leaves you to ponder the mystery. I have no
idea how the people came back or why, but I enjoyed the drama.
2018 British spy thriller. I really enjoyed series 1, kind of liked series 2
and then started losing interest. I did watch the 3rd and 4th series but they
didn't have the same excitement as the earlier series.
2015 Canadian space adventure drama. I enjoyed the first season of this
space bounty hunters thingy, but soon lost interest in season 2 as the
characters don't really develop much.
2018 British cyber drama about players in a MMORPG whose online friendship
spills out into mystery in the real world. I liked it.
2022 German spy action dark comedy set just before and after the fall
of the Berlin Wall. The characters in this are absolutely superb, with
a good mix of action, black comedy and solid storytelling.
2017 French thriller mini-series about a copycat serial killer. Better
than most "interview with the original killer" genre shows.
2014 Icelandic mystery thriller. Also known as "The Cliff" and Hraunið. Mysterious
deaths and conflicts of interest abound.
2017 American superhero thriller. This is a bit of a wild ride at times as
we sometimes don't know if we are seeing reality objectively or through
the schizophrenia of David (Legion). There are parts which lost me the
first time but were more fun the second time. I will definitely watch
the whole thing again sometime.
2022 Norwegian true crime drama. A billionaire's wife goes missing; was she
kidnapped or did her husband have her killed?
2019 mostly animated anthology series. There is a big variation in style
and content for these mini episodes. Some I thought were amazing, some
interesting, some a bit weird and a few a little dull.
2016 American fantasy series about The Devil living on Earth. This is
a great series, largely thanks to the portrayal of Lucifer by Tom Ellis,
which comes to a nice conclusion after 6 fun seasons.
2021 French crime drama. This is a fun caper / thriller with some nice tricks
and a compelling backstory for the main character. There's a 4th season on the
way, apparently.
2020 British crime thriller. Intriguing how a police detective ends up
collaborating uncomfortably with a genius psychopath. Great characters: I
enjoyed season 1 immensely, liked season 2 and then my interest faded. The film
spin-off seemed very rushed in comparison to the previous slow burns.
2024 American action thriller. A well known media figure struggles to
clear his name after he stumbles upon a murder site in the mountains.
2018 American black comedy drama. A great character piece with a wacky
story that somehow kind of works. Two people meet on a pharmaceutical drug trial
and share mind-bending experiences. Emma Stone and Jonah Hill both excel.
2015 American superhero comic adaptation. I enjoyed the 3 seasons on Netflix
before it was acquired by Disney. Good gritty action. I haven't seen the D+
follow ups.
2015 American superhero comic adaptation. Enjoyable hero action with characters
not previously given a high profile. Great version of JJ and a truly scary
villain.
2016 American superhero comic adaptation. Not quite as good as Jessica Jones, which
is maybe why it only got 2 seasons. But a lot better than Ir*n F*st which I am
trying to forget I ever watched.
2017 American superhero comic adaptation. Possibly my favourite of the "Netflix
Marvel" shows. Only two seasons, but I think that's enough as The Punisher has
always been more of a "supporting" character rather than a headline act. I'm
sure he'll appear again somewhere.
2023 Korean black comedy crime thriller. This is kind of weird, but I enjoyed
it. A "plain" girl becomes a successful masked internet personality until a
series of unexpected events send her life off the rails.
2025 Korean action noir series. This is a somewhat brutal revenge story
where the anti-hero just keeps on killing until all the (other) bad guys
are as dead as they can be. Somehow compelling.
2015 Russian crime drama. A young law school graduate is assigned to work with
a famous detective who normally works alone using a secret approach known only
as "the method". This is very quirky and full of intrigue. Enjoyed it.
2009 Japanese manga adaptation. These short episodes each offer a little insight
into a different aspect of Japanese culture. I loved it. The first 3 seasons
are simply called "Midnight Diner" which then continues for a further 2 seasons
under the name "Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories" even though all episodes are
set in the same diner in Tokyo.
2012 American Gothic horror miniseries. A new priest in town seems like a good
thing for a small island community... until it isn't.
2017 American crime thriller. Set inside the FBI as it develops a behavioural
science unit to study serial killers. Great characters and story. After 2 series
I was expecting a third but I think COVID got in the way and it never happened.
2025 adaptation of the Harlan Coben novel.
2017 American sci-fi horror based on the Stephen King novel.
2015 thriller series about computer hackers and anarchists. Great. One
of the most accurate depictions of computer technology on TV.
2021 Korean action crime thriller. This is quite a complex story of
drug gangs, police informers, double agents and ultimately revenge for
the loss of the lead's father. Really gripping and lots of action.
2016 British drama about a fictional TV personality accused of rape. Inspired
by Operation Yewtree this is quite a clever way of portraying alleged real
crimes without getting caught in legal disputes with real defendants. I
think the difficulties with proving guilt in a "he says she says" context
are shown quite well.
2023 American action thriller. In season one our hero is a desk agent (at
night) who wants to be a field agent - he gets his wish and it's an exciting
adventure. In season two he's already an agent and it's quite dull so I bailed
out after a few episodes.
2019 American horror sci-fi. I can't remember anything about this adventure
set on the space ship Nightflyer. But I watched all 10 episodes so it can't
have been terrible unless I fell asleep and it auto-played all the way through.
2016 Norwegian drama about Norway's involvement in Afghanistan. Compelling
depiction of political machinations and conflicting human interests.
2023 Irish black comedy about a young woman in a small town who starts to kill
people when there aren't enough obituaries to write. Funny stuff. There is a
second season but I don't know where it is available?
2021 American comedy mystery drama. I signed up to Disney+ mainly for Marvel
and Star Wars - in the couple of years before I quit because all the new M+S
was shit, this show was the only other show that I watched through to
the end of a season and enjoyed. I ended up watching the first 3 seasons I
think and this was all I missed when I left.
2019 American horror drama. A school has a secret society that practices magic.
As usual with quirky series I like this got cancelled after 2 seasons with many
loose ends untied.
2017 American supernatural drama. This is a spin-off from The Vampire Diaries,
which I haven't seen, but it stands on its own. I binged a whole season in one
day when I was ill once... but after that I dipped in and out until stopping
at the end of season 3.
2013 Canadian sci-fi drama. Incredibly well done with one actor playing multiple
clones simultaneously. Good story and great supporting cast.
2012 British adaptation of the Ford Maddox Ford novel. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and
Rebecca Hall. Powerful and tragic.
2024 Korean sci-fi horror spin-off from the manga. Weird but kind of interesting.
2011 American sci-fi surveillance dystopia drama. This was the first American
show that I stuck with through multiple seasons; mainly because the back story
about the origins of "The Machine" is so compelling.
2021 Norwegian drama. This is a black comedy, although the humour is quite
subtle at times. I liked it a lot.
2020 American chess drama. A really great idea to take a chess prodigy story,
possibly based on Bobby Fischer, and cast the lead as a girl instead to give
her even greater barriers to break through. I think the chess side is quite
true to reality, except for the obvious fact that top players don't move the
pieces quite as fast! Loved it. Watched it more than once already.
2020 Norwegian fantasy drama. It turns out that Norse gods and giants are still
living in present day Edda, Norway. When a young man discovers he is the
reincarnation of Thor everything kicks off. Well done and lots of fun.
2025 American mystery comedy drama. At first I couldn't decide if this was a satire
of murder mysteries or an attempt at one with humour in. I'm still not sure, but it
was quite enjoyable to watch because of the brilliant main character.
2015 British supernatural horror miniseries. Only 3 episodes but I seem to
remember it was quite good...
2015 British crime drama. Excellent limited series with Stellan Skarsgard and
Nicola Walker.
2018 British adaptation of the Harlan Coben novel.
2017 German cold-war drama. Two families on either side of the Berlin wall;
living with spies and stuff.
2022 American fantasy based on the comic books by Neil Gaiman. Two great series with
a fascinating array of characters and realms.
2015 American sci-fi drama. I really enjoyed season 1, but just couldn't
get into season 2 and abandoned it after a couple of episodes.
2010 British modernisation of the Sherlock Holmes stories. Brilliant.
2016 Korean crime drama. A modern day profiler finds a mysterious walkie-talkie
that appears to enable direct communication with a detective in the past,
giving valuable insights into cold cases.
2021 Korean sci-fi thriller. When water runs dry on Earth it seems like a good
idea to look for it on the moon... until the mission finds something infinitely
more dangerous instead.
2014 Russian crime drama. Son of an oligarch gets into a fight with policemen and
his father makes him join the police as a punishment. Actually really good. I
believe there are 4 seasons but I've only seen 2... where are the others?
2021 Korean sci-fi drama. A famous engineer (?) meets a strange woman from
the future and they try to prevent a nuclear war. Gripping and very cleverly
constructed story.
2021 Korean dystopian thriller. Lots of people liked this and I did too. There was
no real need for a second and third season (which is one in two parts) but I
understand why they did it and they were OK, but not a patch on the original season.
2016 American fantasy horror drama thing. Starts off incredibly well and then gets
very, very slow with longer and longer episodes, spread over a really long time.
This show taught me that however much I like the start of something, when it
starts getting painful to watch, give up - the ending, when it comes, is rarely
worth the wait.

2017 Korean crime thriller. I really loved the characters in season 1 even if
the story is a bit slow. Not got round to watching season 2 yet.
2020 Korean apocalyptic horror. I kind of enjoyed season one in a bizarre, what
the hell, way. But I lost interest in season 2 when it just stayed weird rather
than developing into something substantial.
2018 American superhero adventure. I'm not normally a fan of DC shows but I
did like this. It is a bit patchy in places, but the story is quite hard
edged and gritty most of the time.
2024 Thai sci-fi miniseries. All four episodes are interesting if sometimes
a bit drawn out. Not perfect, but nice to see sci-fi themes' potential
impact of different societies for a change.
2025 Korean medical dark comedy. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a
comedy or if it just uses humour to cope with the horror of traumatic injuries.
Anyway, it is somehow fun to watch the genius trauma surgeon take on the world
and succeed against all odds. Sounds corny but it's not, quite.
2016 Canadian post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure. I love this and have watched
the whole thing at least 3 times. It has some clever solutions to old sci-fi
bugbears like "if you can time travel then why not go back again and fix
anything that didn't work the first time". Great.
2022 British spy thriller. Nicely done.
2010 British comedy featuring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon playing fictionalised
versions of themselves on a series of restaurant tours writing reviews for a
national newspaper. A very simple idea delivers many great comedy moments.
2024 Korean melodrama. A couple enter into a one year marriage contract for
very different reasons. Things get more complicated than they expected,
especially after a mysterious trunk is found in a lake. Gripping - I mean, we
have to know what's in the trunk, right?
2017 Korean police time-travel drama. A detective chases a suspect into a tunnel
and finds himself 30 years in the future with the crime still unsolved. This
is great, I really enjoyed it - maybe because all the "jokes" between the "old
man" from the past and the young "modern" people are fun to see in a different
cultural context rather than feeling like cliches. Not to be confused with
various other shows called "The Tunnel" and at least one "foreign" remake.
2019 American superhero comedy drama. Loosely based on the comic book series. One
of my favourite shows ever. The first 3 seasons are just awesome; so well written
and executed. The fourth and final season doesn't quite nail a satisfying conclusion,
but how could it? It might have been better to have another "oh no, not again" ending
and leave it hanging.
2015 British crime drama. I like the way each series covers a new "cold case"
and introduces us to an array of characters who appear to have have no connection
to the case at first... but do. At the same time we see the sometimes tragic lives
of the detectives playing out in parallel.
2017 Belgian cyber-crime drama. I've only seen season 1, which was good.
2020 American fantasy drama. A great concept that slides off the rails a little
in season 2. I was disappointed that it got cancelled, but I didn't think the
"other realm" stuff made a lot of sense in the conclusion.
2022 American supernatural mystery comedy thing. Absolutely brilliant. Both seasons
are really well written and acted. Funny and exciting.
2009 British police procedural. Starts off with a Jack the Ripper copycat in season
one and moves on to other "classic" cases in 2, 3, 4. Good characters in difficult
situations.
2023 British thriller. A school teacher takes out some bad guys in self defence and
her fighting skills raise questions about her identity.
2019 fantasy drama based on the video game. I've never played the game, but I
am enjoying the TV show. Four seasons so far plus various spin-offs.
2020 Polish adaptation of the Harlan Coben novel. It's interesting that Coben's novels
get adapted for TV in different languages (English, Polish, Spanish and French so far).
2025 American political thriller. After a huge cyber attack ex-president Robert De Nero
is given "unlimited power" to solve the problem... was that a good idea?
